Early in the morning there was not much traffic. That would change later! The building on the right is the Museum of Science and Technology, near the hotel on the edge of Quancheng Square (more on that later).
There were several groups of women exercising with rackets and balls.
This picture shows several typical sights that we saw as we rode around the city: traffic; surrounding hills; older low rise buildings in poor shape; and new high rise construction.
Jinan is famous for its springs. This sculpture in Quancheng Square represents a particular spring that bubbles out of the ground in three streams. Note the new construction in the background. This is not the same construction as in the previous picture. The two pictures are about 30 minutes of driving time apart. There was construction everywhere! There was also considerable air pollution, as shown by the limited visibility.
Also in Quancheng Square were statues of many famous people from Shandong province, including Confucius and Sun Wu (also called Sun Tzu, he wrote "The Art of War").
