The China Agricultural Trade Fair was one of the main events on our itineray. It was huge. We didn't begin to see the entire fair. For example, I completely missed the outdoor displays of farm equipment. Dan Scruton has pictures of that. The following pictures just begin to give you an idea of the fair.
There were three levels of displays. The first level had the smallest booths, and the most retail activity. There was much entrepreneurial activity at this fair!
One of the many interesting products was sliced elk horn.
On the second level, booths were larger and more upscale.
The largest and most elaborate displays were on the third level. Half of the third level was designated the Overseas Area. The flags show the home country for each display in this area.
Monsanto had a large display.
The Chinese companies on the third level had the most interesting displays.
Here is a closer view of the fresh orange juice display behind Leon in the above picture. Of course you can't help noticing the pretty women, but also note the flat screen TVs and backlighted moving display panels. The many displays on the third level made generous use of all of these techniques.
This young woman at a tea booth made delicious tea for us and gave us a jasmine flower ball to wear around our necks, like the one she is holding. They were attention-getters; one woman later stopped me to smell it to see if the flowers were real.
One of the unique displays were these "art apples."
There were many, many other products displayed. China has a tremendously varied agriculture, and she went all out to show it to the world at this well-attended fair.
